abstract | <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a color composition for a color filter, the composition having a low viscosity even when it contains a fine pigment at a high concentration, having no pigment aggregate that causes pixel defects in a liquid crystal display device, and having excellent dispersion stability, and to provide a color filter having good color characteristics and causing no pixel defect in a liquid crystal display device. <P>SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing a color composition for a color filter includes processing a color composition containing a pigment, a resin, a solvent and if necessary, a monomer and/or a photopolymerization initiator in a high-speed shearing machine with a generator preferably comprising a stator which is a fixed blade and a rotor which is a rotating blade, with a clearance of 50 μm to 10 mm between the stator (1) and the rotor (2), at a shear velocity of 5,000 to 900,000 [1/sec].
