abstract | <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electroconductive polymer having high electroconductivity, transparency and excellent heat resistance; and to provide an applied material such as an antistatic material or a solid electrolytic capacitor utilizing excellent characteristics possessed by the electroconductive polymer. <P>SOLUTION: A dispersant and a dopant for synthesizing the electroconductive polymer is composed of polystyrenesulfonic acid having: 50,000-1,000,000 number-average molecular weight; ≤500 ppm total residual amount of bromine and chlorine; and ≤1 mass% of residual amount of a styrenesulfonic acid monomer. The electroconductive polymer is synthesized by carrying out chemical oxidative polymerization of a polymerizable monomer using an oxidizing agent composed of a persulfate and a ferric salt. The antistatic material is composed by using the electroconductive polymer as an electric conductor.
