titleOfInvention Liquid crystal display device and color filter
abstract <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which has excellent color reproducibility at a wide viewing angle and is free from color shift even when being observed from oblique angles during black display. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes: at least, a pair of substrates disposed so as to face each other, at least one of which has an electrode; a liquid crystal cell where an electric field having a component parallel with the substrate having the electrode is formed; and a pair of polarizing palates. The liquid crystal cell includes first, second, and third pixel regions and color filters disposed on respective pixel regions, and color filters disposed on at least two pixel regions are different in Rth, and &lambda;<SB>1</SB>&lt;&lambda;<SB>2</SB>&lt;&lambda;<SB>3</SB>is satisfied wherein &lambda;<SB>1</SB>, &lambda;<SB>2</SB>, and &lambda;<SB>3</SB>are principal wavelengths (nm) at which color filters disposed on the first, second, and third pixel regions take maximum transmittances respectively, and a retardation Rth(&lambda;<SB>1</SB>) in a perpendicular direction of color filters at the wavelength &lambda;<SB>1</SB>is equal to or smaller than 5 nm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&amp;INPIT
