abstract | <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved method for separating a lignocellulosic material into a lignophenol derivative and a carbohydrate by a phase-separation conversion system. <P>SOLUTION: The lignocellulosic material is separated into the lignophenol derivative and carbohydrate by the phase-separation conversion system. In the process, a mixture of concentrated phosphoric acid and concentrated sulfuric acid is used as a concentrated acid to thereby improve separation and recovery yields of the lignophenol derivative.
