abstract | <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image carrier protective agent which protects an image carrier from electric stress due to charging and from mechanical stress due to friction with a cleaning member, and which, when the agent is deteriorated by the electric stress, hardly affects the quality of an image and peripheral members, and also to provide a protective layer forming device using the protective agent, a method and apparatus, for forming an image forming stably forming a high-quality image using those, and a process cartridge. <P>SOLUTION: The image carrier protective agent is obtained by heating a powder compact formed by dry molding the mixture of at least wax powder and thermoplastic resin powder to a temperature less than the melting point of the wax and not less than a softening temperature of the thermoplastic resin, so that the compact becomes unified. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
