abstract | <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a curable composition curing in extremely high sensitivity and having good preservation stability, a color filter having less development residues in an un-exposed part, excellent in the close adhesion with a substrate of an exposing part, and equipped with a color pattern of a desired cross sectional shape and a method for producing the color filter, excellent in productivity. <P>SOLUTION: This curable composition contains a compound expressed by general formula (I) [wherein, R<SP>1</SP>is an n-valent organic group; R<SP>2</SP>is H or a 1-4C alkyl; R<SP>3</SP>, R<SP>5</SP>are each independently H or methyl; X is -O-, -NH-, -NR<SP>4</SP>- or -S-; R<SP>4</SP>is H or a monovalent organic group; and (n) is 1-12 integer] and a photopolymerization initiator.
