abstract | <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that detects a toner amount constituting a toner image for controlling an image density with high accuracy and can accurately control the image density, and to provide a process cartridge used for the apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with: an image holder having a regular reflectance of 8% to 14% to halogen light; a charging means; a latent image forming means forming an electrostatic latent image on the image holder by exposing the charged image holder to light for forming a latent image; a developing means; an optical density detecting means irradiating the image holder with the toner image formed thereon with detection light and detecting the optical density of the toner image based on the reflected light from the image holder; and a control means controlling at least one of the charging potential of the image holder by the charging means, an exposure light quantity of the light for forming a latent image, and the developing potential of the developing means, so as to obtain a target density of the optical density of the toner image formed on the image holder based on the detection result of the optical density. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
