abstract | <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which has such configuration that application of a proper amount of a lubricant is possible, improves the cleaning property of a photoreceptor surface, and prevents occurrence of an abnormal image such as image blur to output a high quality image. <P>SOLUTION: When an image area ratio of a visible image on a photoreceptor 1 surface computed by an image area ratio computing means is less than a predetermined value, toner is input in a non-image-formation region of the photoreceptor 1 surface. When image area ratios in regions divided in the axial direction of the photoreceptor 1 are less than a predetermined value, toner is input in non-image-formation regions in the respective divided regions.
