abstract <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide polymer solid electrolyte used for an electric double-layer capacitor, and to provide an electric double layer capacitor that uses an organic solvent and has a small rate of short circuit. <P>SOLUTION: A polymer solid electrolyte containing a polymer compound having a structure unit expressed by the following expression (1) (in the expression, R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>indicate an alkyl group having 1-12 carbons that may be the same or may differ and may have a hydrogen atom and a substituent, an alkenyl group that may have a substituent and has 2-8 carbons, a cicloalkyl group that may have a substituent and has 3-8 carbons, an aryl group that may have a substituent, an aralkyl group that may have a substituent and has 7-12 carbons, a complex ring group, and an acyl group having 1-10 carbons or a divalent connection group together, and the R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>may be connected to form a ring) and electrolyte are applied to an electric double-layer capacitor to obtain the small rate of short circuit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
