Disclosed are methods of treating or preventing a T-cell mediated autoimmune disease in a subject in need thereof. This method involves (a) transplanting immature hematopoietic cells into a subject and (b) producing an isolated population of non-GVHD-induced anti-third party cells, including cells with a central memory T lymphocyte (Tcm) phenotype. Including administering a therapeutically effective amount to the subject, the anti-third party cells are tolerogenic cells and can home to lymph nodes after transplantation.
