abstract The present invention provides engineered catalytic antibody 38C2 by arylation of a reactive lysine residue (Lys99). The Lys99 residue is arylated with heteroarylmethylsulfonyl compounds such as methylsulfonephenyloxadiazole (MS-PODA). The invention also provides antibody-binding chemicals (eg, antibody-drug conjugates) comprising chemical moieties site-specifically attached to 38C2 via a methylsulfonyl compound. Additionally, the present invention provides methods of making antibody-binding chemicals and therapeutic uses of the antibody-binding chemicals. [Selection drawing] Fig. 1
