titleOfInvention | Devices, systems and methods for monitoring sweat flow |
abstract | A device 100 is provided for transporting sweat droplets 112 to a sensor. The device comprises a chamber 102 for filling with perspiration. The chamber has an inlet 104 located adjacent the surface of the skin 106, which allows perspiration to enter and fill the chamber. The chamber has an outlet 114 through which sweat droplets flow when the chamber is filled. The device further comprises a fluid transport assembly designed to allow sweat droplets protruding from the outlet to be separated from the outlet of the chamber. The sweat droplets are then transported to the sensor by the fluid transport assembly. Once a spilling droplet has been ejected from the outlet, the outlet is available for subsequent sweat droplets to spill out of the outlet as it further fills the chamber. Ejected sweat droplets are transported through the fluid-transporting assembly at least as fast as subsequent sweat droplets protrude from the outlet, so that the sweat droplets do not contact each other before reaching the sensor. . Thus, the device supplies perspiration to the sensor in droplets. Also provided are a system comprising the device and sensor, and a method for transporting sweat droplets to the sensor. |
