It relates to an aminoacyl-tRNA synthase that allows Aib to be incorporated into a growing polypeptide chain during translation in a eubacterial host cell such as coli. For example, the invention relates to new aminoacyl-tRNA synthases and their use, as well as methods for producing polypeptides containing one or more Aibs, without limitation.
