titleOfInvention | Urine stabilization |
abstract | The present invention provides an effective stabilizing technique for urinary samples that stores intracellular nucleic acids such as extracellular DNA (also referred to herein as acellular DNA) as well as contained cellular and genomic DNA. The stabilization techniques provided allow, among other things, the degradation of cell-free DNA in urine samples and the inhibition of bacterial growth. Therefore, the stabilizing technique of the present invention stabilizes cell-free DNA in urine as well as genomic DNA found in urine and the cytological properties of cells. Thereby, the present invention provides a solution for simultaneous stabilization of cell-free DNA and genomic DNA and stabilization of cells in urine. Thereby, cell-free and genomic DNA tests as well as multimodality tests including conventional cytological staining are possible for stabilized urine samples using the techniques according to the invention. |
