abstract |
Secure patching of integrated circuit chip operating systems. The patch server encrypts the patch for the integrated circuit chip operating system and sends the encrypted patch to the issuing office server. In the extension to the digital certificate, the issuing authority server attaches the encrypted patch in the digital certificate and sends the digital certificate including the encrypted patch to the terminal. The terminal sends a digital certificate and an integrated circuit chip. The integrated circuit chip restores the extension to the second digital certificate and decrypts the extension using the integrated circuit chip manufacturer's decryption key, thereby restoring the patch to the integrated circuit chip operating system.
