Pressure support system valve |
abstract |
The present disclosure describes a valve of a pressure assisted therapy device that allows a subject to safely supplement therapeutic pressure assist with a low flow rate of oxygen while using a heated (or unheated) tube. The valve transfers a pressurized stream of breathable gas and a low flow rate of oxygen to the heating tube. The valve has a side orifice configured to receive supplemental therapeutic gas. The valve provides pressure support when electrical components configured to pass power from the pressure support therapy device to the heating tube, and a pressurized stream of breathable gas is not provided (or below a predetermined pressure threshold). Includes a plunger urged to close the flow path from the treatment device. Closing the flow path stops oxygen gas from flowing back through the valve towards the pressurized gas source. |
