abstract A positive electrode for an alkaline secondary battery and an alkaline secondary battery having excellent storage stability during charging are provided. A silver oxide for positive electrode active material contains at least one additive element selected from the group consisting of P, Nb, W, V, Mo, Si, Zr, Ti, Ge, Al and Ce. ing. In addition, a method for producing a silver oxide for a positive electrode active material is selected from the group consisting of a water-soluble salt containing silver and P, Nb, W, V, Mo, Si, Zr, Ti, Ge, Al and Ce. a step of dissolving a metal salt containing at least one additive element in water to form a first liquid; a step of dissolving an alkali in water to form a second liquid; and a neutral pH adjusted to 8 to 10. ~ A step of using an alkaline solution as the third liquid, and simultaneously dropping the first liquid and the second liquid into the third liquid to form a precipitate containing silver and the additive element to form a suspension and a step of filtering and drying the suspension.
