abstract |
An object of the present invention is to provide a novel electrode catalyst in which Pt-based fine particles are supported on the surface of tin oxide-based particles. An electrode catalyst comprises tin oxide-based particles having a specific surface area of 30 m 2 /g or more, and Pt-based fine particles supported on the tin oxide-based particles. The electrode catalyst has an oxygen reduction reaction mass activity of 150 A/g Pt or more at 0.9 V and/or an oxygen reduction reaction mass activity of 650 A/g Pt or more at 0.85 V. The tin oxide-based particles preferably have pores with a pore diameter of 50 nm or less inside. Further, the tin oxide-based particles are preferably made of SnO 2 doped with Sb, Nb, Ta, and/or W.
