abstract Kind Code: A1 An aqueous electrolyte battery having excellent life characteristics is provided, which includes a bipolar electrode having a current collector exhibiting high durability. A water-based electrolyte bipolar secondary battery (500) is provided. This aqueous electrolyte bipolar secondary battery 500 includes a negative electrode 3, a positive electrode 5, a bipolar electrode including a bipolar electrode current collector 502, and an aqueous electrolyte. The bipolar electrode current collector 502 has a metal layer a 502a and a metal layer b 502b. The metal layer a contains at least one element selected from the group consisting of Cr, Ni, Fe, Ti, and Al. b is 10 wt. % or more 100 wt. % or less of any one element of Zn and Sn. The metal layer a and the metal layer b are electrically connected, and have a positive electrode active material containing layer 5b2 on the surface of the metal layer a and a negative electrode active material containing layer 3b2 on the surface of the metal layer b.
