abstract Kind Code: A1 To provide an electrolytic capacitor for middle and high voltage applications of 160 V or more in which the total amount of gas generated in the electrolytic capacitor is suppressed. An electrolytic capacitor includes an anode foil and a cathode body on which a dielectric oxide film is formed. The cathode body includes a cathode foil made of a valve metal and a carbon layer formed on the cathode foil. The electrostatic capacity X per unit area of the anode foil and the electrostatic capacity Y per unit area of the cathode body are such that the ratio between X and Y is 10 for X and Y is 10 or more. The capacitance of the anode foil and the cathode body is adjusted so as to have a capacitance. [Selection drawing] Fig. 1
