PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gel electrolyte which exhibits proton conductivity equivalent to that of Nafion in a normal temperature range and exhibits proton conductivity equal to or higher than Nafion in a high temperature range exceeding 60 ° C. SOLUTION: For example, an imidazolium salt having an alkenyl group as represented by the following formula (1-1) and, for example, an imidazolium salt having an alkenyl group as represented by the following formula (2-1). A gel electrolyte containing a polymer obtained by polymerizing a compound having both ends thereof and a liquid, and the polymer being swollen by the liquid.
