abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly remove potential unevenness due to triboelectric charging between a charging roller and an electrophotographic photosensitive member. A charging roller has a conductive shaft core and a conductive layer as a surface layer. The conductive layer has a matrix containing a crosslinked product of the first rubber and a plurality of dispersed domains. Each of the domains contains crosslinks and conductive particles. The volume resistivity is lower than the volume resistivity of the matrix. The surface resistance value is 1.0 × 10 -1 Ω or more and 1.0 × 10 3 Ω or less. In a domain of 50% or more of all domains, it is a cuboid of the domain to be determined, and two of the six faces of the cuboid pass through any one point in the domain and the axis thereof. A plane orthogonal to the line segment L orthogonal to the surface of the core body, where x is the length in the X-axis direction of the wrapping rectangular parallelepiped, y is the length in the Y-axis direction, and z is the length in the Z-axis direction.
