PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of specifically recognizing a glycerol phosphate modifying group of α-dystroglycan. An antibody or antibody fragment thereof that binds to a glycerol phosphate modifying group of α-dystroglycan, wherein the antibody has a heavy chain variable region having HCDR1, HCDR2, and HCDR3 containing predetermined amino acid sequences, respectively, and a predetermined antibody. It has a light chain variable region having LCDR1, LCDR2 and LCDR3 each containing an amino acid sequence; the antibody or antibody fragment thereof is expressed using a recombinant α-dystroglycan obtained by overexpressing a synthase of CDP-Gro as an antigen. A method comprising obtaining animal cells; a nucleic acid and vector encoding the antibody or antibody fragment thereof; a transformant comprising the vector; a cancer diagnostic agent comprising the antibody or antibody fragment thereof.
