abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for a heat insulating material which has good dispersibility of silica airgel and can be prepared in a relatively short time. The heat insulating material composition is used to provide a heat insulating material that is less likely to crack and has excellent heat insulating properties. SOLUTION: The composition for a heat insulating material has a silica airgel, an aqueous binder, and a thickener, and the thickener is a first thickener having a weight average molecular weight of 50,000 or more and 800,000 or less. And a second thickener having a weight average molecular weight of 900,000 or more and 6 million or less. The heat insulating material has a cured product of the heat insulating material composition.
