titleOfInvention | MiR29 mimic for the treatment of ocular fibrosis |
abstract | Provided herein are miR-29 double-stranded chemically modified oligonucleotide mimetics for use in the treatment of eye diseases or disorders associated with ocular fibrosis and fibrosis of the eye. In one aspect, a method of treating ocular fibrosis in a subject is provided, the method comprising administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of a miR-29 mimic compound, wherein the miR-29 mimic compound ( a) First strand of 23-26 ribonucleotides comprising a mature miR-29a sequence, a mature miR-29b sequence or a mature miR-29c sequence; and (b) a sequence substantially complementary to the first strand. The eye comprises a second strand of 22-23 ribonucleotides comprising and having at least one modified nucleotide, said first strand having a 3'nucleotide overhang with respect to said second strand. Fibrosis includes retinal fibrosis, corneal fibrosis, conjunctivitis or trabecular meshwork fibrosis. |
