abstract |
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copolymer formed by cationic polymerization of one or more kinds of cyclic diene in the presence of a catalyst and a comonomer selected from the group consisting of monoterpenes, branched styrenes and combinations thereof. Random copolymers with repeating units derived from cyclic conjugated diene such as 1,3-cyclohexadiene and commonomers such as monoterpenes can be prepared as soluble products in hydrocarbon solvents. The copolymer can be crosslinked with various crosslinkers to form a material with good oxidative stability and flame retardancy. Non-crosslinked and crosslinked copolymers have useful properties such as low dielectric loss tangent, low dielectric constant and a good balance of thermomechanical and electrical properties that make them useful for electronic applications.
