abstract |
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method of multi-wire submerged arc welding using a flux core wire electrode. For flux core wire electrodes containing internal flux containing from about 5% to about 70% carbonate compound and less than 25% calcium fluoride (CaF 2) per weight of internal flux, and for submerged arc welding. A system for multi-wire submerged arc welding containing external flux is provided, and after the submerged arc welding process, the system provides weld metal containing less than 100 ppm of nitrogen.
