abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an eriodictyol derivative exhibiting a melanocyte proliferation inhibitory action via a melanocyte stimulating hormone receptor inhibitory action. SOLUTION: An eriodicthiol derivative exhibiting a melanocyte growth inhibitory action mediated by a melanocyte stimulating hormone receptor inhibitory action suppresses the proliferation of melanocytes by inhibiting the MSH receptor, and reduces melanin production. This eriodictyol derivative decomposes melanin by its antioxidant action. It is produced by a production method that purifies a fermented liquid obtained by fermenting ginsen berry fruits with lactic acid bacilli. It is used as cosmetics, food preparations and pharmaceuticals. In particular, when used in cosmetics, it has a whitening effect. [Selection diagram] None
