abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device having low power consumption in a display device using a liquid crystal material showing a blue phase. SOLUTION: A first substrate having a pixel portion provided with pixels 6400 including a transistor 6401, a second substrate facing the first substrate, and arranged between the first substrate and the second substrate. It has a liquid crystal layer and a liquid crystal layer. The liquid crystal layer has a liquid crystal material showing a blue phase. In the transistor, the gate is electrically connected to the scanning line 6406, one of the source or drain is electrically connected to the signal line 6405, and the other of the source or drain is electrically connected to the electrode.
