PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a flame-resistant fiber derived from an acrylamide-based polymer, which suppresses fusion between single fibers and can produce a flame-resistant fiber having a high carbonization yield. A method for producing a flame-resistant fiber, which comprises subjecting an acrylamide-based polymer fiber to a flame-resistant treatment while performing a stretching treatment at a draw ratio of 1.3 to 100 times.
