abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for efficiently obtaining CTF. SOLUTION: A step of reacting normal butyraldehyde with formaldehyde in the presence of a basic catalyst to obtain a reaction product solution containing trimethylolpropane (TMP). A step of separating the distillate I containing TMP and the high boiling component from the reaction product solution by distillation. The distillate I is acid-treated and then distilled to separate the distillate II from the high-boiling component containing TMP, and the distillate II is treated by an acetalization reaction and then purified by distillation.
