PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel polarizing element provided with a polarizing layer and a photoalignment layer, a circular polarizing element including the polarizing element, and a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: A photoaligning layer and a polarizing layer are provided in this order on a transparent substrate, and the photoaligning layer is formed of a polymer having a photoreactive group, and the polarized light is formed. A polarizing element in which the layer is formed of a composition containing a polymerizable smectic liquid crystal compound and a dichroic dye, a circular polarizing plate in which a retardation layer is further provided on the polarizing layer of the polarizing element, or the polarized light.
