abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester film as a polarizer protective film in a liquid crystal display device having a backlight source having a relatively narrow half-value width of each peak of an emission spectrum, such as a light source for emitting excitation light and a backlight source including quantum dots. Provided is a liquid crystal display device in which rainbow spots are suppressed even when the above is used. A liquid crystal display device in which a backlight light source, a light source side polarizing plate, a liquid crystal cell, and a viewing side polarizing plate are arranged in this order, and the backlight light source has a light source that emits excitation light and quantum dots. The viewing side polarizing plate includes a polarizing element protective film made of a polyester film laminated on the viewing side of the polarizing element, and the polyester film is in a direction parallel to the vertical direction of the display screen of the liquid crystal display device.
