abstract |
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a nickel-metal hydride secondary battery capable of suitably activating a battery. SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a nickel-metal hydride secondary battery is an activity of accommodating a electrode plate group and an alkaline electrolytic solution in a battery case of a nickel-hydrogen secondary battery, and then activating the active material of the electrode plate group by charging / discharging. Including the chemical discharge process. The activation step includes an activation charging step having at least one charging pause period before the start of charging or during charging. The upper limit of the charge rate in the activation charging step is set to a charge rate at which the pressure of the gas generated by overcharging does not open the exhaust valve of the battery case. At least one charge suspension period is set to a period during which the temperature of the nickel-metal hydride secondary battery becomes equal to or lower than a predetermined temperature when the charge rate of the activation charging step is in the high charging range.
