PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the burden required for the peeling treatment when peeling a polymer compound which can be used for peeling as many kinds of polymer compounds as possible and which is adhered to an object to be adhered. Provided are a release agent for a polymer compound, an adhesive material, and a method of using the adhesive material. SOLUTION: As a release agent for a polymer compound that removes a polymer compound adhered to an object to be adhered, the phase structure is reversible between an isotropic phase and a liquid crystal phase by photoisomerization based on irradiation light of different wavelengths. It contains a photoresponsive liquid crystal material that undergoes a transition. The photoresponsive liquid crystal material is used in a state where the polymer compound is already contained in the polymer compound under an isotropic phase structure when the polymer compound is adhered to the object to be adhered, and the photoresponsive liquid crystal material is used. It is said that the phase structure of the liquid crystal material can be transferred from the isotropic phase to the liquid crystal phase by photoisomerization based on light irradiation.
