abstract | Techniques for determining microsatellite instability are set forth herein. The technique involves generating a reference sample dataset that represents or mimics a hypothetical matching sample for an individual target sample. The reference sample dataset can be generated from a set of reference normal samples that do not match the sample of interest. For samples of interest for which there is no matching sample, the reference sample dataset is to determine the microsatellite instability and to provide indication of the presence, absence, or degree of microsatellite instability of the sample of interest. Can be used. Reference sample datasets can be generated to exclude, mask, or otherwise take into account individual microsatellite regions associated with variability between highly ethnographic groups. |
