The present invention relates to a method for purifying a protein having tubulin carboxypeptidase activity from a biological extract, which comprises a polymerization / depolymerization cycle performed on the biological extract in the presence of microtubules. The present invention further relates to peptide-based inhibitors for use in the treatment of disorders associated with altered microtubule detyrosization in animals, wherein the peptide-based inhibitors comprise a peptide moiety composed of 1 to 20 amino acids. The peptide moiety has an amino acid selected from Y or F at the C-terminal position, and the peptide-based inhibitor at least partially inhibits tubulin carboxypeptidase activity. |
