| abstract | The present invention relates generally to droplets, and more particularly to methods and systems for dispensing a picoliter volume of droplets containing one or more entities. The inventors herein describe a microfluidic droplet dispensing system for delivering a droplet supply line for delivering droplets for dispensing and a dispensing fluid for delivering droplets. A distribution line, a droplet outlet line coupled to the droplet outlet, and a first input for receiving the flow from the droplet supply line, and a first input for receiving the flow from the distribution line. A first junction having two inputs and an output to the droplet outlet line, coupled to the droplet outlet line between the first junction and the droplet outlet A waste line, a first pressure source for providing pressurized dispensing fluid to the dispensing line to expel droplets from the droplet outlet, and ejection of droplets from the droplet outlet. A droplet dispensing valve between the first pressure source and the dispensing line for controlling, the system comprising a second dispensing fluid for providing pressurized dispensing fluid to the droplet protection line. A pressure source, having a first input from the droplet supply line, having a second input from the droplet protection line, and having an output, a second joint, and Coupling between the output of the second joint and the first input of the first joint to limit the volumetric flow rate from the second joint into the first joint. A microfluidic droplet dispensing system is further disclosed that includes a volume flow throttle. |
