abstract | Aspects of the present disclosure include contacting cells with an effective amount of a tetrahydrocarbazolamine compound to reduce the deleterious effects of the target gene in the cell, eg, the deleterious activity of the target gene containing a mutant extended nucleotide repeat (NR) in the cell. Methods of reducing are included. Adverse activity (eg, toxicity and/or dysfunction of the product encoded by the target gene containing the mutated extension NR) can result in production of a toxic expression product (eg, RNA or protein) encoded by the target gene or It may be reduced by reducing (and in some cases, selectively, including, differentially reducing) activity. Kits and compositions for practicing the subject methods are also provided. |
