abstract | The present invention is an image processing device 10 for processing diagnostic image data, which comprises a data input 11 for receiving diagnostic image data with vector values, and a predetermined template identifier for each pixel. Determining a subset of the identifiers selected from the set of, and determining, for each identifier of the subset, a quantified value indicating the presence, ratio and/or significance in the pixel of the substance or condition corresponding to the identifier. And a quantification unit 12 for performing. The image processing device 10 comprises a dictionary definition unit 14 for assigning an index to each unique identifier subset, for providing a dictionary, and an image data encoder 16 for encoding image data. The image data encoder 16 is adapted to calculate, for each pixel, a bit sequence comprising a first set of bits encoding an index and a further set of bits encoding a quantification value. The image processing device 10 also comprises a data packager 18 for packing encoded images in a diagnostic image format and inserting a dictionary in the metadata of that format. Further aspects relate to decoding devices, systems, corresponding methods for encoding and decoding, and derivative computer-related products. |
