Flame retardant composites, methods of making flame retardant composites, and uses thereof are described. The flame retardant composite material may include at least two flame retardant laminates and a porous thermoplastic core material disposed between the at least two flame retardant laminates. Each laminate may have one or more plies, and each ply may include multiple fibers in a thermoplastic polymer matrix containing the flame retardant composition. The flame-retardant composites of the present invention meet the European flame-retardant standards for rail transportation. |
