titleOfInvention | Nitric oxide detector using reducing gas |
abstract | An accurate and efficient respiratory monitor capable of performing a plurality of pulmonary function tests and other related measurements is provided, wherein the respiratory monitor can be used reliably for a longer period of time. A measurement system is disclosed that includes a feature for detecting the presence of nitric oxide from a gas sample, such as breath. The measurement system includes an assembly that introduces one or more reducing gases into the reactor-sensor assembly, thereby helping to stabilize the sensor signal response and improving the performance of the assembly over time. . Suitable reducing gases include hydrogen gas (H 2 ), carbon dioxide (CO), benzaldehyde, bisphenol A, and other similar compounds. The reducing gas may be introduced directly from one or more ambient gases, or may be introduced through a tube or an in-line tube. The reducing gas may be generated from a liquid or solid form.
