Composite electrolyte membranes that can be used in ionic conductors for electrochemical devices include a support matrix adapted to function as at least one of a mechanical support, a flame retardant, and an electron blocking layer; a metal-organic structure (MOF) Wherein the MOF is a class of crystalline porous solids constructed from metal cluster nodes and organic linkers, the MOF being supported by coating, laminating, physical mixing and pressing, in situ growth or polymerization A material incorporated into the matrix; and a liquid electrolyte impregnated in the porous MOF and adapted to function as an electrolyte modulator to immobilize anions and release cations. |
