How to administer drugs suitable for treating migraine or cluster headache |
abstract |
A method of administering an agent suitable for treating migraine or cluster headache to a patient includes placing an attachment surface of a fluid delivery device containing the agent in contact with at least a portion of the patient's skin. The flow rate of the drug from the device is adjusted so that the drug is delivered to the patient for at least a predetermined period of time. The fluid delivery device includes a control assembly having a body part defining an axis and a plunger part slidably coupled to the body part. The plunger is positionable between a first position closest to the body component and a second position farthest. The biasing assembly is located between the body part and the plunger part. The biasing assembly is configured to apply a two-stage force profile to the plunger component. Also disclosed is a method of administering an agent to a patient such that C max , T max and AUC are within predetermined therapeutically effective values. Such methods are effective in treating migraine and cluster headache with sumatriptan or other drugs. [Selection diagram] None |
