Methods and systems are provided for assessing the physiological properties of a segment of a blood vessel. The method includes obtaining a first measurement and a second measurement at a first point and a second point, respectively, and using the first measurement and the second measurement as an input and an output, respectively. Obtaining a transfer function configured to produce an output given the input; and determining a physiological characteristic of a section of the blood vessel based on the transfer function. The transfer function can be a velocity transfer function based on a blood flow velocity waveform or a pressure transfer function based on a blood pressure waveform. The methods and systems can be used to non-invasively diagnose PH, COPD, and PA impedance in pulmonary arteries and to detect stenosis in coronary arteries. [Selection] Fig. 1D |
