abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a stabilizer which is less likely to cause seizure when a display element is produced by adding it to a liquid crystal composition. Another object of the present invention is to provide a method for producing a liquid crystal composition containing the stabilizer and a method for producing a liquid crystal display element using the composition. The present invention provides a method for producing a compound having a hindered phenol structure and a dioxane structure, which comprises performing an acetalization reaction in the presence of Lewis acid, and also contains a liquid crystal composition containing the compound.
