abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To brake a vehicle more appropriately when a driver is abnormal. An emergency braking system 10 for a vehicle provided with a main brake 5 for applying a braking force to wheels and an auxiliary brake 6 for assisting the main brake 5 includes a determination unit 7A and a braking unit 7B. The determination unit 7A determines at least one of passive and automatic braking of the vehicle when an abnormality occurs in the driver. When the determination unit 7A determines that braking is necessary, the braking unit 7B prohibits the action of the auxiliary brake 6 and controls the main brake 5 to apply a predetermined braking force to the wheels.
