abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel method for synthesizing enantiomerically pure form or enantiomerically enriched form and/or racemic form of epicatechin. A process for the synthesis of enantiomerically pure or enantiomerically enriched (+ and/or -) epicatechin and its intermediates or a racemic mixture of (+ and/or) epicatechin and its intermediates Therefore, the following steps: (i) a step of obtaining the penta-protected quercetin; (ii) a step of reducing the penta-protected quercetin obtained from the step (i); (iii) a deprotection of the compound of the step (ii) if necessary.
