PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a factor that functions as a strong regulator of signal transduction by a member of the TGF-β superfamily for treating fatty liver disease. In a particular aspect, the present invention provides an ActRIIB signal. Compositions and methods for treating fatty liver disease by administering an antagonist of a transduction pathway are provided. Examples of such antagonists include ActRIIB polypeptides, anti-ActRIIB antibodies, anti-myostatin antibodies, anti-GDF3 antibodies and anti-activin A or anti-activin B antibodies. Various liver and metabolic disorders can be ameliorated by treating fatty liver disease. [Selection diagram] None |
