PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a terpene or a terpenoid. A recombinant Deinococcus bacterium genetically modified to increase 1-deoxyxylulose 5-phosphate synthase (DXS) activity and isopentenyl pyrophosphate isomerase (IPP isomerase) activity is terpened or Culturing under conditions suitable for terpenoid production, wherein the recombinant Deinococcus bacterium is genetically engineered to overexpress the endogenous, homologous or heterologous dxs gene and the endogenous, homologous or heterologous idi gene. Wherein the polypeptide encoded by the dxs gene has at least 70% sequence identity to a polypeptide of a particular sequence. [Selection diagram] None |
